2009-2010 Ski & Board Season

The 2009/2010 Ski Season is coming to an end with last weekend's trip to Okemo, Curtis' Ribs and the Ice Cream search. We have had a great year of day tripping. All our day trips were well attended. The weekday trips to Loon Mountain on Friday February 12 and Stratton Mountain on Friday March 5 were great successes. We will need to look at more weekday excursions next season. The Officers and Board of Directors want to thank everyone for their participation in these trips and their contribution to the fun we all had.

Our weekend get-away trips were also successes where both the Sugarbush Trip and the Jay Peak Trip were sold-out. These weekend trips continue to be good draws. Although we didn't have the best of snow conditions this year we still found enough snow to make us happy and the resorts provided enough food and spirits to keep us smiling. May the snow gods treat us better next year!

The week trip to Telluride was a very good trip. From the folks who went tell me this was a great place to ski and provided plenty of terrain of all levels. The accommodations were wonderful and the food was perfect. It is a magical place. Let's hope we can decide on as good a place next season.

We are in the period where the Officers and BOD members are trying to determine next season's ski destinations. This has to be the hardest task for the board to accomplish. We are always yanked from all sides as we try to garner the largest participation from the membership as well as provide variety to the destination. We try very hard not to repeat a destination within a reasonable amount of time. There are so many quality ski areas out there that we should not target return trips to frequently. But, there are many arguments for repeats. That is why we have asked the membership for their opinion via the Trip Poll. This is a poll and not a VOTE to where we go. We are trying our best as board members and club members to arrive at trips that will spur the greatest interest and the greatest participation. So help us out and do the survey.

Let's close the season with the best Membership Meeting attendance of the year (and we have had some very good attendance this year). Come to the Wachusett Mountain Lodge on Thursday April 8 at 7 PM for the last meeting of this ski season. At the meeting we will be discussing next season's trips and electing the Officers and Board of Directors for the next season. Here is the ballot as it looks now:

President - Bill Cocci
Vice President - Don Pierce
Treasurer - Bill Bruce
Secretary - Cheryl Foley

Running for 3 BOD Positions (2 2-year terms, 1 1-year term)
David Anderson
Gary LaBell
Bob Leger
Vinny Ferrell

The club would like to thank Jo-Ann Altieri and Dave Reynolds for their service as Board Members for the last 2-years. Also would like to thank Vinny Farrell for his service on the Board as the club's 1-year Board Member. It has been a pleasure working with them. Staying on the BOD for another year is Jack McCarthy and Paul Spano. Remember, you as members are always invited to the BOD meetings, the time and places are on the Bulletin Board on the website. If you have anything that you feel the BOD should address please contact anyone of the Officers or BOD Members or come to the BOD meeting and your issue will be addressed.

Bulk Tickets - Important

For those who have purchased pre-season vouchers for this year. If they haven't used them, THEY MUST RETURN to Jack McCarthy at the April 8 Membership Meeting or mail to him before 4/15 if they wish to return for credit with CSC. Refund requests must be turned in to CSC at their next meeting in May or no refund.
